About Us

Welcome to the Clifton Hampden and Burcot Tennis club web site. The club is open to all members of both communities as well as offering concessionary membership for local groups and associations. It is founded on the principles of inclusivity, fair play and fun for all.

Each year the club holds three American-style tournaments (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed), in which partners are matched by the organisers and all play in a round-robin fashion. They are open to all ages and abilities. Played in good spirit and to a good standard, the trophies are well-contested and spectators are encouraged to bring picnic hampers to make it an enjoyable family occasion.

The surface is a hard court with it and the surrounding area being maintained by the members voluntarily. It is playable all year round but extra care is cautioned when conditions are wet. Appropriate footwear must be worn when playing, in line with the club rules.

On receipt of an application form to the Club Secretary, rules and tournament entry forms are issued. The access security code is issued by the Treasurer on receipt of a payment by BACS, cheque or cash. Forms are available on this site or can be obtained from the Secretary.

Booking court time is done through this web site. For those members without Internet access, they can either ask partners to book for them or contact the Secretary or Chair who will gladly book it on their behalf. We look forward to welcoming you to the club as new or returning members.

The club normally holds a pre-season gathering in May open to all from both communities as an excuse to get together informally. Details are issued near the time. If you wish to receive notification of this occasion, please give your email address to the Secretary. All members have the right to vote at the AGM and to be elected to the Committee.
